Veterinary Clinic Flooring Installation: What To Expect And How To Prepare

When it comes to running a veterinary practice, every detail of your clinic matters. Flooring, in particular, plays a crucial role—it must withstand heavy foot traffic, animal claws, constant cleaning, and exposure to chemicals while maintaining a safe and hygienic surface. Planning a veterinary clinic flooring installation may seem like a big job, but with the right preparation and professional guidance, it can be straightforward and stress-free.

At Easifit Flooring, we’ve been delivering specialist veterinary flooring solutions for more than 40 years. We know how to balance durability, hygiene, and practicality while minimising disruption to your daily operations.

If you’re ready to get started, you can reach us today on 0800 096 1171 or email for a free consultation.

A successful veterinary clinic flooring installation isn’t just about the materials—it’s about expert planning, minimal disruption, and delivering hygienic, long-lasting results.

What Is Veterinary Clinic Flooring Installation?

Veterinary clinic flooring installation refers to the process of supplying and fitting specialised flooring designed for veterinary practices. This includes materials such as slip-resistant vinyl, chemical-resistant linoleum, and lightweight rubber—each offering unique benefits in terms of cleanliness, durability, and animal comfort. Unlike general commercial flooring, veterinary solutions must withstand frequent disinfecting, potential fluid exposure, and rigorous hygiene protocols.

Understanding The Installation Process

Step 1: Free Site Survey And Measurement

We begin with a professional site survey. Our surveyors will assess your current floors, check for sub-floor issues such as moisture or unevenness, and take precise measurements. We’ll also bring along samples from leading brands, such as Altro, Polyflor, and Amtico, so that you can see the quality firsthand.

Step 2: Recommendation And Quotation

Once we understand your needs, we’ll recommend hygienic flooring solutions tailored to your space—whether you need slip-resistant vinyl for consultation rooms or heavy-duty rubber for kennels. You’ll then receive a no-obligation, transparent quotation.

Step 3: Scheduling To Minimise Downtime

We know that veterinary clinics can’t afford lengthy downtime. That’s why we offer flexible scheduling options—overnight, weekends, and even holidays—to ensure your clinic remains operational with minimal disruption.

Step 4: Sub-Floor Preparation

Good flooring starts with a stable base. Our team will remove old flooring, repair uneven surfaces, and prepare the sub-floor with levelling compounds or damp-proof membranes where required.

Step 5: Installation And Finishing Touches

We lay your chosen flooring with precision, ensuring seamless finishes. For clinical spaces, we can also install coved skirting to prevent dirt buildup in corners—an essential detail for infection control.

Step 6: Final Checks And Handover

Before handover, we thoroughly inspect the installation, clean the site, and walk you through the finished result to ensure complete satisfaction.

How To Prepare Your Clinic Before Installation

Although we handle most of the heavy lifting, there are steps you can take to ensure your veterinary clinic’s flooring installation goes smoothly.

1. Plan For Minimal Disruption

Communicate with your staff about the schedule and location of the work. If possible, schedule around quieter periods or temporarily relocate appointments.

2. Remove Portable Equipment

We’ll take care of larger furniture if required, but clearing away smaller, portable items speeds up the process and protects sensitive equipment.

3. Consider Sensitive Zones

Areas such as operating theatres, recovery rooms, or laboratories may require additional planning. Let us know about these spaces in advance so we can schedule accordingly.

4. Prepare Animals And Staff

Consider animal welfare throughout the process. If pets are boarded overnight, we’ll keep noise and disruption to a minimum, but it’s best to plan for their comfort and safety.

5. Discuss Sub-Floor History

If you’ve experienced damp, cracks, or uneven flooring in the past, share this information during the survey. It helps us choose the proper preparation methods to avoid future problems.

I’ve been using Easifit Flooring for over 20 years, they always do the best for me, which sometimes is difficult for them especially when I need work done at a drop of the hat, I’ve never had additional cost added unless I have asked for more to be done while they are on site, they always leave it as clean as possible depending on your agreement with them on the furniture removal etc.: And the quality of work has always been to a high standard, I’ve never found to have any issues with the contactor in my time and would gladly recommend them to any company.
